Innovative Versions
Certainly, many had implemented unique iterations ever since, while another of theirs has too 'due' with their 'Phases Occasions' they used in 'Citidel' or 'Road to the Rhine'-!
I can only 'imagine' upon so much of what I've 'played', so, anyone else should 'pipe-in' about theirs, as well-? Oh, They even began the 'Point to Point' series with 'A House Divided' followed by 'Soldier King' & 'Ardennes Offensive', as well for an entirely-incomplete 'Napoleonics' table-top lineage. "Avalon Hill" also produced their 'version', along for some others in various 'eras', to include 'A.C.W.' or 'S.C.W.'-! They had a 'Fantasy Line' going for that shown below, as well for 'Traveler', & 'Sci-Fi' etc.

CardboardPusher post=533 userid=744 Interesting. A House Divided was the first point-to-point map?
Hoi y`all as 'Gamma 2 Games' had begun these, as well with the 'Battle Board' feature although some 'Games' had their own iteration printed upon their 'Game Map'-('Mohawk' being one). What 'GDW' had done was to inspire others for theirs-(3W begat 'Give Me Liberty') & 'Clash of Empires' that used 'Point to Point' also as well with 'hidden units' ala "Fog of War". Look at how many copied the 'Double-Blind' system as a feature of that, or you might even play them as just 'regular' "face to face" kinds-?
