Hoi y`all as plenty of us unreally-surreally 'Grognards' recall their very early 1st 'Games' what with the 'gold embossing' & such making that added 'chrome'-? Not all did survive unto later expansive additions, while one in particular-('Napoleon') would 'evolve' into several iterations, presently-!

When I interviewed Grant Dalgliesh recently, I asked him about the origins of the company as Gamma 2. He said the name change to Columbia was meant to make the company more appealing. But then also said there may have been some legal issuses involved. I guess that the legal issues were that Tom D was the only one of the original 3 partners moving forward, and he needed a new name to separate himself from the original partnership.

Hoi y`all as when 'moi' initially met them both was in the late 1990s when they resided in 'Custer, WA' at the 'time' & were about to release 'Pacific Victory' shortly, of which we playtested a few turns for that. "Tom" stated that I was too timid as the 'Japanese' while I retorted: "They were too 'ambitious' & LOST due for being thus-!-"; as we went on to obtain numerous 'blank wooden blocks' for FREE-! My original intent was to procure them newly-made 'markers' for 'East Front', instead of having those mailed to us, & get extra 'East Front'-kinds of 'blocks' but got the following instead: 'Blue & Gray'-! They consisted of misshapened/malformed/misfits for the most part of them, with some very few 'good' ones.

Interesting to see the Seymour Street address on the old Gamma 2 box. Any one who has spent time in Vancouver knows that street well.

My copy of Napoleon is Gamma 2 which I am sure I bought through SPI. The only address is a PO Box in Vancouver BC. And I remember Seymour St.

Hoi y`all as we got the 'A.H.'-edition, while we had a friend create 'additional' forces colour-printed onto an adhesive-backed 'label sheet' and this was in the early 1990s. The ongoing 'oppo-debate' is that it could 'jam-up' the printer, or 'lightning strikes' were much more probable, take your pick-? During my Sister's 'Wedding' in November 1985, her 'in-laws' attended & made-off with my copy of 'War 0f 1812' as the 'F.i.L' became so enamored with it, so, I gave that to him-! Anybody around the 'Puget Sound' area back then, will recall a 3-days-long 'Ice Storm' ensued & created havoc, while 'running amuck' was slowed to a standstill-! Once, while stationed in 'W. Germany' circa 1979-1980, we made an attempt to visit S.P.I.-offices in 'Munich', but, we never did locate that.
