I recently got a review of the podcast on Apple Music. Good review, 4/5 stars. Lots of nice things to say. But it also said that I don't go as in depth as other podcasts. That brought me up short. Here I was worrying I was going into too much depth on each game. Perhaps he meant I don't into enough depth on the industry or the hobby in general. Or maybe he wants even more dissection of games, perhaps he's the groggiest of the grogs. In any case, good to know I didn't scare him off.

Hi Grant,
I wonder if he (she?) is referring to the fact that most other wargame podcasts are a fair bit longer than yours? One of my favourites, History on the Table, is usually 2 hours long. Armchair Dragoons is also about that length. I reckon you could easily double the length of your podcast without losing listeners.
Of course, you need the content too. Perhaps one suggestion could be to briefly discuss a few other games which cover the same topic? So for example, if you were talking about Storm over Arnhem, you might also devote some time to talking about games which cover the same topic? Not full reviews, just additional discussion.
Just a thought.
Cheers,
Justin

That's a tough one. I like both those podcasts as well (though I skip the fantasy and scifi stuff they put at the end of History on the Table). The thing is, both of those have 2 or more participants to stretch things out. Which definitely makes their podcasts longer. But it also means there's a fair bit of just chewing the fat about family, etc. Which is something I've tried to avoid as some folks say they are tired of 2 hour podcasts with 1 hour of content.
That said, I hear you. I'd like it if my episodes were at least an hour, as long as it's mostly on-topic. The most recent one, #12, was closer at 48 minutes. I'm hoping to get a few more interviews as well, and I've got a few ideas for other regular features. More talk about games similar to the featured game is definitely something I should do more of. It's hard to keep pumping out the good stuff!
