Hoi y`all as 'moi' needs to inquire upon did you happen to 'mention' about their later expansion with them 'Maneuver Cards'-? They were intended to add somewhat more complexity during 'Dogfights' akin to what they used in '1776' or 'Caesar's Legions'-(because 'Mobs' had-?) for 'Maneuver' die roll modification, and lately with 'Fire in Mississippi' although the latter has 'disposition/supposition' as overall 'Command' from theirs-! Yet another was 'The Atlanta Campaign' by 'Guidon Games'-! As you can see their 'Combat Matrix Chart' here, then it provided 'Outcomes' that would become used as 'Maneuvers' during a 'Battle', & used by certain 'Units'-! Theirs tended on being more 'complex' than the previous 'kinds' had been & what was the military formation stratagem for 'Barbarian Hordes' again, as I's forgot-?

I don't know if I mentioned them, but I definitely had the maneuver cards. They were a great addition. A variant I think I saw on BGG also had me interested. It basically cutthe turn length in half, so planes fly half as far before firing etc. I think that's how it worked.

Hoi Grant as yet many another 'iteration' was done re: SPI 'Flying Circus', 3W-'Red Baron', GDW 'Blue Max', 'Yaquinto' 'Wings' etc, with even proliferation of 'Minis'-'Dogfights' at 'Conventions' with 'telescoping'-base to indicate heights-level 'flight'-! Years later, there was 'Knights of the Air'.
Where are them 'Red Baron' planes-? You couldn't 'swing a dead-Cat' without hitting them in that "Fly Boys" movie-!

Knights of the Air was the first wargame I sold. I had loved Ricky's War so much and Knights looked like it would be right up my alley. But I just found it flat. Didn't enjoy flying at all. Maybe if I had another look at it today I'd like it. I do have a lot of WWI air games, it's a real love of mine.

Hoi Grant as 'moi' neglected upon: "Wings of Glory" & was susceptible of being called: 'ye oldenry fogeyser'; oh, the "Fly Boys" version-! There's EVEN a 'Pizza-GAL' now, "as if" it were 'flawsible', & where is their 'Far-flung Farceycle Circumspect'-? Of course, 'moi' also has: "Dogfight"; precursor as has 'stands' to denote 'in flight' while others are 'on ground' at 'Base HQ'-!
The 'Aerocraft' shown below is 1:64th-scale 'Paper-Cardstock' available at: Welcome ; with many of 'metal' composition in 1:144th-scales. They even have 'decals' you could affix onto theirs in order to best 'display' the finished assembly.
I don't rightly-know had anyone gotten into small-'minis' such with: 'C-in-C', 'GHQ', etc,
