Victory Point. The unit-of-measure of victory.
Some game-systems assign point values to objectives. (i.e. occupy Paris for 10 VP.)
Alternately, some game assign Victory Points for eliminating units, or for exiting units off the opposing board edge.
And some games do a mixture of all these, giving players multiple ways to accumulate points.
