After 22 days of open trenches, fighting, skirmishes, assaults and bombardments, on August 7, 1539, the last resistance of the Spanish garrison of the Albanian village of Castelnuovo ceased. After rejecting Barbarossa's offer of surrender with the phrase that gives the game its title “Come whenever you dare!”, Sarmiento's Spanish Tercio faced more than 50,000 Ottomans defending the outdated fortification of the town.
Castelnuovo 1539 - Come whenever you dare! allows you to live a wildly epic siege. An asymmetric wargame for 2 players, with card engine, that uses blocks to maintain the fog of war. The Ottoman player must take the 3 strong points of the fortress without suffering too many casualties, the Spanish player must make him pay so dearly for the conquest that he cannot continue the military campaign that summer. It has just started its funding campaign on Kickstarter, with many Stretch Goals to unlock and a very special price for backers.
